A Pinterest-Inspired Adventure

When my sister stumbled upon a Pinterest idea for paper roses made from old book pages, she asked if I could make one for her. Though I was a bit nervous, I decided to give it a try—and I’m so glad I did! The result turned out beautifully, and it’s now a unique and charming piece of decor that we both love. Here’s how it all came together.
What You’ll Need
1. An old book you no longer want (for the pages).
2. A pair of scissors.
3. A narrow glass or similar round object for shaping.
4. A hot glue gun and glue sticks.
5. A rectangle wreath (I found mine on Amazon, and I’ll share the link below).
6. A tan ribbon for the finishing touch.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Cutting the Circles

I started by carefully removing pages from the old book. Then, I cut out circles from the paper. The size of the circles can vary depending on how large you want your roses to be.
2. Shaping the Petals

Using the glue gun, I gently folded the paper circles around the rim of a narrow glass. This technique gave the paper a petal-like curve, creating a realistic rose shape. It was delicate work, but the hot glue helped secure the layers as I worked.
3. Creating the Roses

I layered the paper pieces, overlapping slightly, and glued them together in the center. With each layer, the rose began to take shape.
4. Assembling the Wreath

My sister wanted a rectangle-shaped wreath for a modern look. I glued the roses to one corner of the wreath, grouping them together for a dramatic effect.
5. Adding the Finishing Touch

On the opposite corner, I tied a simple tan bow to balance the design and add a rustic charm.
The Finished Product
The combination of the old book pages, handmade roses, and the clean lines of the rectangle wreath turned out better than I expected. The subtle aged look of the paper and the neutral bow make this piece a timeless addition to my sister’s home decor.
Why I Loved This Project
Although I was initially nervous, this project was both fun and rewarding. It’s a great way to upcycle old books and create something truly one-of-a-kind. If you’re looking for a thoughtful gift idea or a personal decor project, I highly recommend giving this a try!
Where to Find the Wreath
I purchased the blank rectangle wreath on Amazon.
