DIY Spring Decor: Upcycled Glass Bottles That Say “Bloom”

So I had some old glass bottles lying around—total junk, the kind you almost throw away but then think, “Wait… I can totally use these for something cute.” And that’s exactly what I did! I decided to turn them into pretty spring vases, and let me tell you—they turned out way better than I expected.

I started with five random glass bottles. To keep things simple (and because I knew only part of them would really be visible once decorated), I just painted the tops and bottoms white. That way, when you look at them, those parts pop without being overwhelming.

Next, I ripped up some spring-themed pink paper and used Mod Podge to apply it around the middle section of each bottle. I didn’t go for perfect lines or anything—just kind of went from bottom to top and let the paper land where it landed.

At first, I wasn’t loving the way the colors came together. It felt a little too… mismatched. So I painted over the whole thing with a soft pink acrylic paint. Once it dried a bit, I lightly rubbed some of it off so that the design underneath could peek through. That distressed look gave them a sweet, rustic vibe that felt much more me.

Now here comes the fun part! I hopped on Google Docs and typed out the word BLOOM in a beautiful script font. I cut out each letter, one for each bottle, and Mod Podged them right in the center. Instant charm! The pink letters over the pink-washed bottles just worked.

To finish it off, I wrapped a light pink string several times around the neck of each bottle and tied it off for a little extra texture and detail. Finally, I popped in some faux flowers—blush pinks and soft blues—to give them that full spring effect.

And that’s it! These turned out to be the cutest little rustic vases, perfect for a shelf, table centerpiece, or even lined up on a windowsill. Sometimes, junk bottles just need a little paint, paper, and love to bloom into something beautiful.
