Setting a Goal to Lose Weight by December 27th — Part 1 of My Journey

I’ve decided to set a personal goal for myself: to lose weight by December 27th.

There’s no major event, deadline, or outside pressure — I just wanted to pick a date, make a plan, and challenge myself to stick to it.

Sometimes it feels good to have something to work toward just because you want to.

Right now, I weigh 168 pounds, 5’ 4” tall and my goal is to get down to 130-135 pounds. That’s a total of 38 – 33 pounds to lose over about 8 months.

How I’m Planning to Get There

I’m currently breastfeeding full-time, which definitely affects how I approach weight loss.

Breastfeeding burns extra calories every day (about 300–500 calories), so it’s important that I’m eating enough to stay healthy and keep up my milk supply.

After thinking it through with the help of Chat GPT carefully, I decided my daily calorie target will be about 2,300 calories.

This should create a small, steady calorie deficit — enough to lose about 0.8 to 1.1 pounds per week, without risking my energy or milk production.

I know losing weight slowly is the best way to make it sustainable — especially while balancing life, baby, and everything else.

My Exercise Plan

On top of adjusting my eating, I’m building a simple, realistic workout plan that fits into my life.

Here’s what I’m aiming for each week:

Strength workouts 4 times a week Walking 3 times a week Tap dancing with my mom 3 times a week (This is a fun hobby we do together! Our tap sessions are usually pretty short, about 5–10 minutes, but it’s something we love.)

I want my plan to feel enjoyable and doable, not overwhelming or stressful.

The goal is to be active most days, even if it’s just something small like a walk or a few minutes of tap dancing.

No Perfection — Just Progress

I’m not expecting this journey to be perfect.

Some weeks will probably be better than others. Some days I’ll feel super motivated, and other days I’ll just do the best I can.

But I’m excited to see what can happen if I stick with it through the ups and downs, and keep showing up for myself.

This is just Part 1 of my journey — setting the goal, making the plan, and getting started.

I’ll be sharing updates in future posts on how things are going, what’s working, what’s not, and how I adjust along the way.

Thanks for following along!
