Thereโs just something about sunflowers that brings so much cheer to a space. As we transition from the patriotic reds and blues of early summer into the warm golden hues of late summer, I wanted to create something simple, uplifting, and full of sunshine. These sunflower โSHINEโ bottles were the perfect answer โ and the best part? They were made almost entirely from things I already had on hand!
Whether youโre decorating a shelf, a table, or a sunny windowsill, this easy DIY brings a joyful, rustic touch thatโs just right for July and August.
โ๏ธ What I Used:
Five empty glass bottles (any shape or size works!) Sunflower-themed printable paper (I found mine on Pinterest and printed it off) The word โSHINEโ printed and cut out (1 letter per bottle) Matte Mod Podge Hot glue gun Raffia or twine for bows Faux sunflower stems or floral picks
๐งก How I Made Them:

Clean and dry the bottles. I started with five junk bottles I had saved โ (sparkling water bottles.) After removing the labels and cleaning them well, they were ready to be transformed. Apply the sunflower paper. I found a beautiful sunflower print on Pinterest, printed it on standard printer paper, and I just tore into peices.

Using Mod Podge, I applied the paper to the bottles and smoothed out any bubbles.

Add the lettering. I printed the word SHINE, one letter per bottle, in a bold font and carefully cut out each letter with a scalpel for clean edges. I Mod Podged each letter over the sunflower print โ one per bottle โ spelling out S-H-I-N-E across the set.

Dress up the tops. Once everything was dry, I added a bit of rustic charm with hot-glued raffia bows around the necks of the bottles. You could also use jute twine, ribbon, or even lace โ whatever fits your style!

Add your florals. Finally, I tucked a sunflower stem or a small floral arrangement into each bottle. This brought the whole look together and added height and color.

๐ Why I Love This Project:
It was budget-friendly and used up craft stash items I already had. Itโs easy to personalize โ you can change the word or the theme to fit other seasons. It instantly brightens up any space and gives strong late-summer vibes.
These bottles look so sweet lined up on my kitchen shelf, and the message โ SHINE โ just feels right this time of year. Itโs a reminder to soak up the sunlight, enjoy these golden summer days, and keep creating joyfully.
