There’s something so satisfying about taking something old and unloved and turning it into a beautiful seasonal decoration. That’s exactly what I did with four junk bottles I had lying around — and now they’re one of my favorite pieces of fall decor.
The Inspiration
I’ve been loving warm, cozy fall vibes lately, and I wanted a project that felt rustic and homemade without breaking the bank. I also had a really cute mini paper leaf cutter that was just begging to be used!
The Process
1. Prepping the Bottles

First, I gave the bottles a good clean and then painted them a creamy, neutral color. I love starting with a light background because it makes the autumn colors pop.(I also had to use three coats of paint).
2. Adding Falling Leaves

Using my tiny leaf paper cutter, I punched out little paper leaves from fall-colored cardstock. Then, with Mod Podge, I clustered some leaves toward the bottom of each bottle and let a few “fall” upward in a scattered pattern. It created the sweetest cascading leaf effect.
3. Spelling Out FALL

I printed out the word FALL in a bold, simple font and carefully cut out each letter with a scalpel. Each letter got Mod Podged onto a separate bottle, so together they spell out the season. It’s such a simple touch, but it really ties the set together.
4. The Finishing Touches

At the top of each bottle, I tied an orange bow for a pop of color. I also added a few faux orange leaves and fall floral picks so the bottles could double as mini vases. The texture and color on top balance the soft cream below perfectly.

The Result

What once were forgotten bottles are now a cheerful fall centerpiece that feels both rustic and polished. They look great lined up on a mantel, dining table, or even as part of an entryway display.
This project is proof that you don’t need expensive supplies to make something beautiful for your home — just a little creativity, some Mod u magic, and a love for the season.
