Junk Bottles Turned Into Cozy Fall Decor 🍂

I’ve been on a little bit of a fall crafting kick lately, and I have to admit—I missed my fall bottle vases! I just sold them, which was wonderful, but I found myself wishing I still had some of those cozy autumn accents around the house. So this week, I decided to make a brand-new set of fall bottles, but with a little twist.

Instead of recreating the exact same style, I wanted to try something different. I started with three empty bottles I had saved (a.k.a. “junk bottles”), gave them a good wash, and then primed and painted them. I chose a light tan color for the base coat—it felt warm and neutral, the perfect backdrop for fall designs.

Adding the Details

I knew I wanted to incorporate some fall leaves and an inspirational saying. So I printed out a few designs, including the phrase:

“Gratitude makes what we have enough.”

Now, here’s where things got interesting—my printer was running low on color ink! The leaves I printed came out looking a little faded, but since it was late at night, there was no chance I was running to the store for more. I decided to roll with it, and I’m glad I did, because the slightly muted tones actually worked beautifully with the fall vibe.

I carefully cut out the leaves with a craft scalpel and used Mod Podge to adhere them onto the bottles.

For the middle bottle, I placed the “gratitude” saying front and center.

To add a little extra detail, I pulled out a gold marker and accented some of the leaves—just a few outlines and highlights here and there. The faded colors combined with the gold accents gave the bottles a rustic, cozy look that I didn’t expect, but loved.

The Finishing Touches

To finish things off, I tied simple orange ribbons around the necks of the bottles. I also tucked in a few faux fall leaves at the top, almost like bottle vases, which gave them that extra seasonal charm.

What started as a quick “I miss my bottles” project turned into something that feels even more special than the ones I made before. Sometimes the little imperfections (like a half-empty ink cartridge!) push us into creating something we wouldn’t have thought of otherwise.

Now my new fall bottles are sitting on my table, bringing that cozy autumn glow into the house once again. 🍁✨
