Turning “Junk” Into Beautiful Easter Decor (Purple & Yellow DIYs)

Today I worked on a couple of Easter DIY projects using things I already had on hand—old marinara jars and scrap wood—and I am obsessed with how they turned out.

Even better? Everything fits perfectly into my purple and yellow Easter theme this year.

✨ DIY Easter Floral Jars (From Old Marinara Jars)

I started with three empty glass jars—just regular marinara sauce jars I had saved. Instead of throwing them away, I decided to turn them into decorative vases.

Two of the jars were shorter, and one was taller, so I designed them a little differently to give them some variety.

For the two shorter jars, I:

Printed off some purple floral designs Tore the paper into random pieces for a textured look Used Mod Podge to layer the pieces all over the jars

I love the torn paper look because it gives that soft, vintage, handmade feel.

Then I tied a thicker purple ribbon around the front of each jar and secured it with a little hot glue so it stayed exactly how I wanted.

For the taller jar, I wanted it to stand out as the centerpiece:

I added purple designs toward the top and bottom Then Mod Podged a larger rectangular piece of purple polka dot paper to the front On top of that, I carefully cut out a floral design and layered it over the rectangle

This gave it a really pretty “framed” look.

Instead of a big ribbon, I used a smaller yellow ribbon that lays flat against the jar. I hot glued it down so it stayed clean and simple.

To finish everything off, I added some florals to each jar so they double as little Easter vases. They turned out so cute and make such a statement together!

Scrap Wood Easter Floral Sign

For my second project, I grabbed a piece of scrap wood—just an old cutoff that would normally be tossed.

I love projects like this because it’s literally turning scraps into something beautiful.

Here’s what I did:

Painted the entire piece purple Printed a very light purple polka dot pattern and Mod Podged it onto the front Found a soft, beautiful bouquet image, printed it, and carefully cut it out Mod Podged the floral design right onto the center

To give it a little dimension, I added a small purple bow to the front using hot glue. I positioned it so it looked natural and flowed with the design, almost like part of the bouquet.

That tiny 3D detail made such a difference—it brought the whole piece to life.

💜 Why I Love Projects Like This

These are honestly my favorite kinds of crafts:

Using what I already have Spending little to no money Creating something unique and meaningful

There’s just something special about looking at your decor and knowing you made it—especially when it started as “junk.”

And sticking to my purple and yellow Easter theme tied everything together so beautifully.

🌼 Final Thoughts

If you have jars, scrap wood, or leftover craft supplies lying around—don’t throw them out. You might be surprised what they can become.
